Princeton Downs Iona and George Washington Sunday in Water Polo

PRINCETON -- The 15th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team improved to 4-1 on the young season with a 17-7 win against Iona and a 13-6 win against George Washington on Sunday at DeNunzio Pool.
Princeton scored 17 goals in Sunday's game to reach double digits for the fourth time in four tries this season. Sophomore Eric Vreeland led the charge for the Tigers with three goals, while 14 other Tigers scored goals in the game. Junior Zach Beckman scored twice in the game and was the only other Tiger with multiple goals. Freshman Scottie Hvidt made nine saves through the first three quarters to earn the win in goal.

The Tigers closed out their season-opening weekend with a league game against George Washington. The Tigers wasted little time jumping out a 5-1 lead after a quarter en route to a 13-6 win and their fourth win of the weekend. It was also the fifth time this weekend that Princeton scored 13 or more goals in a game. Senior Nicholas Seaver scored three times in the game to lead all scorers, while sophomores Brendan Colgan and Eric Vreeland, and senior Ben Reitz each added a pair. Junior Scott Syverson made 11 saves in goal as he climbed to 3-1 for the young season.
