Men's Golf Stands Seventh after Two Rounds at McLaughlin Invite

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Princeton men's golf team stands seventh of 16 teams through two rounds at the McLaughlin Invitational with one round to play Saturday. The event is being played on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park.
As a team, Princeton is 20 shots back of leader Akron, tied with Columbia, Seton Hall and Connecticut. John Sawin is tied with Juan Pablo Candela for tops among Tigers at 4-over through two rounds. Sawin shot a 69 and 75, while Candela fired 72 in both rounds in his first collegiate event. They are eight shots back of co-leaders Blake Sattler of Akron and J.J. Shearer of Binghamton.
While Sawin and Candela are tied for 19th overall, Max Schechter is tied for 28th at +5 after a 73 and 72. Brent Herlihy is tied for 42nd after a 72 and 75 to stand at +7, and freshman Jake Skinner is tied for 77th at +14 with an 80 and 74.
