Men's Swimming/Diving Cruises To Stay Perfect All-Time At DeNunzio
January 06, 2007 | Men's Swimming and Diving
Princeton got 12 victories in its first meet of 2007 and routed Bucknell 210-73 to remain perfect all-time at DeNunzio Pool. Led by two-win performances from Michael Papageorge (1-meter, 3-meter) and Mike Zee (100, 200 free), the Tigers cruised to victory.
Following a pair of early wins from Bucknell, Doug Lennox got Princeton in gear by winning the 100 fly in 51.77. That set a chain reaction of Tiger wins that put the meet out of reach. Robert Griest won the 500 free in 4:36.74, topping a 1-2-3-4 Tiger finish. Zee edged Drew Woodbury by less than one second to win the 200 free in 1:45.18, and Mike Baity won the 50 free in 21.86. Ruse ended the five-event win streak by topping Lennox in the 200 IM with a winning time of 1:58.11.
Zee topped Mike Carter and Jon Hartmann in the 100 free with a winning time of 47.83, and Stan Buncher followed with a winning time of 1:56.77 in the 200 back. Mike Ashley took the 400 IM in 4:14.06, and 2006 All-America Meir Hasbani edged Will Schaffer in the 200 breast with a winning time of 2:13.21. Princeton ended the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 100 free relay.
