Swimming/Diving Squads Host Loaded Field At Big Al Open; Link For Live Results Here
November 29, 2007 | Men's Swimming and Diving
The Princeton men's and women's swimming and diving teams have turned the first weekend in December into an important date on the national scene, and this year will be no different. The reigning EISL and Ivy League champions have brought together another loaded field for the 2007 Big Al Open, held Friday through Sunday at DeNunzio Pool. A full list of invited teams and an event schedule is included in the story, as is a link for live results.
The Princeton men are 3-0, and will also be considered one of the favorites as they face the likes of Brown, Bucknell, Columbia, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Rider. The Tigers, who have never lost a dual meet at DeNunzio and claimed the 2007 EISL title at its home pool, will be led by 2007 league champion Doug Lennox, as well as consistent scorers Robert Griest and Will Schaffer.
The Princeton women (3-0), currently ranked 26th nationally, will be among the favorites in their draw. No. 11 Penn State, currently 4-0 on the season, is the top-ranked team in the field, although there will be plenty of talented performers from the rest of the field: Brown, Bucknell, Columbia, Pittsburgh, Rider, Rutgers and Washington State. Princeton will be led by 2007 three-time All-America honoree Alicia Aemisegger, who won three individual events at last year's meet, as well as 2007 Ivy League individual champions Justina DiFazio, Courtney Kilkuts and Katie Giarra.
