Diving Win Helps Princeton Men Hold Second After Day 2 Of Big Al Open

Sophomore Mike Papageorge earned Princeton's only win of the night in the three-meter event, but the Tiger men's swimming and diving team continued to hold a firm grasp on second place after two days of the Big Al Open. Princeton has 510.5 team points, trailing only Penn State with 691.5 points. Third-place Brown has 385.5 points.
Princeton opened with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Brett Lullo, Easton Chen, Mike Carter and Geoff Faux finished in 1:33.09. Lullo and Faux are both freshmen, as is Colin Hanna, who was the top collegiate finisher in the 400 IM with a time of 3:58.63. He finished second overall in the final to 2007 Princeton graduate Tim Ruse, who was an unattached competitor.
Dan Eckel placed fifth in the 100 fly, while teammate Drew Woodbury claimed eighth in a time of 51.08. Sophomore Jon Hartmann was the highest non-Penn State finisher in the 200 free, finishing fourth in 1:40.03.
Princeton put three in the 100 breast final, with Will Schaffer leading the way with a third-place finish in 57.56. Chen took fourth in 57.81, while Seok Jun Lee claimed eighth in 58.83. Sophomore A.J. Walker added a sixth-place finish in the 100 back (52.41).
The Tigers' lone win of the night came from Papageorge, who won with 340.85 points. Senior Stuart Malcolm took fourth in 310.05, while sophomore Daniel Dickerson took sixth with 290.75 points.
The team of Hanna, Patrick Biggs, Robert Griest and Schaffer took second in the 800 free relay in a time of 6:49.64.
