Meagan Cowher Named to Naismith Trophy Watch List
December 18, 2007 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON -- Princeton senior forward Meagan Cowher has been named to the Naismith Trophy watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors announced Tuesday.
Cowher is one of 50 players on the list and the only Ivy Leaguer. At 17.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, Cowher is leading the Ivy in both categories and has moved up to fifth place on the Princeton career scoring list. With 1,348 points, Cowher needs 20 to pass Jennifer Donnelly '88 for fourth place with only the three Tigers ever to score 1,600 points ahead.
Cowher was also recently named a candidate for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes success in the classroom, on the court and in the community.
The current Naismith list of 50 players will be pared to 30 next month with a final ballot in March and the winner recognized at the Final Four in April.
The Tigers have four non-conference games remaining before the Ivy League season begins Jan. 12 against Penn. The first of those four games is Saturday at Sacred Heart.
