Princeton Fencers to Complete Ivy Season Sunday at Harvard
February 21, 2007 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Princeton fencing teams will compete Sunday at Harvard to wrap up the two-weekend Ivy League championships, which feature a complete round-robin of the six men's and seven women's teams on just two days of competition.
Two weekends ago at Penn, the men went 2-1 and the women went 1-2. That put the men in a tie for second place with Penn, one-half match back of Columbia at 2-0. The women stand tied for fourth place with Brown as Columbia and Harvard are 3-0 and Penn is 3-1.
Sunday's schedule will begin at 10 a.m., and the men's team will have the Ivy lead at stake right away as its first bout is against Columbia. After that, the men will fence Yale (1-2).
The women will also open at 10 a.m. with undefeated Columbia before taking on Yale (0-3) and Cornell (0-3).
In other Princeton fencing news, just one Tiger competed at the Junior Olympics in Denver, Colo., last weekend. In the event for fencers under 20, freshman foilist Clayton Flanders finished 63rd of 218 competitors.
