Tigers Pick Up 7-4 Win at UNC Greensboro
March 19, 2007 | Baseball
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior Spencer Lucian drove in three runs and sophomore Brad Gemberling pitched five solid innings as the Princeton baseball team salvaged its three-game series at UNC Greensboro with a 7-4 win on Monday night. Princeton scored three runs in the second inning and never trailed in the win.
Lucian was one of three Tigers to hit home runs in the game. His two-run blast gave Princeton its first lead of the night as part of a three-run second inning. Sophomore Eric Zaziski made it back-to-back homers in the same inning with the first longball of his career. Freshman Jack Murphy hit Princeton's third homer of the game to lead off the eighth inning.
In between, the Tigers added two runs in the third inning on a sac fly from sophomore Dan DeGeorge and a single from Lucian. Princeton's final run came in the ninth inning when a fielder's choice scored freshman Greg Van Horn, who was hit by a pitch, but had two hits, including a triple earlier in the game.
Gemberling continued his strong start to the season with a five-inning outing in his first start. He scattered three hits and one earned run over his stint. Freshman Langford Stuber pitched the remaining four innings and surrendered one earned run on four hits.
Princeton improved to 2-7 with the win and snapped a five-game losing skid. The Tigers continue their weeklong Spring Break trip on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Davidson.
