Elyse Colgan scored three goals and Samantha Shaugnessy made eight saves as the 18th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team knocked off 14th-ranked Santa Clara 8-4 on Friday evening. Princeton scored the game's first three goals and never trailed as the Tigers defeated Santa Clara for the second time this season.
Colgan led the team with three goals and was joined by five other scorers. Princeton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game after a quarter, and led 3-1 at halftime. The lead remained two goals for Princeton after three at 5-3, before Princeton extended its lead to the final four-goal margin at the final. Shaughnessy earned her third win of the season in goal as she stopped eight shots and made two 5-meter blocks for the Tigers.
