Tiger Fencers Take Fourth at IFA Meet

Princeton's fencing squads made the short trip to the Lawrenceville School to compete in the Intercollegiate Fencing Association meet put on by the ECAC Saturday. The Tigers finished fourth in the combined men's/women's six-weapon standings.
Harvard, Columbia and Penn finished ahead of Princeton, while Yale, Brandeis, Brown, Boston College, MIT, NYU, Cornell and Vassar rounded out the field in the overall combined standings.
Princeton was fifth in the three-weapon men's score, taking second in the epee, fifth in the foil and sixth in the sabre.
Thomas Abend (7th, A flight), Clayton Flanders (8th, B), Robert Brenner (12th, B), Greg Hohensee (15th, B) and Paul Boswell (5th, C) competed in the epee, while Doug Hohensee (6th, A), Alejandro Bras (6th, B) and John-Paul Mitchell (1st, C) competed in the foil and Edward Hurme (2nd, A), Tommi Hurme (7th, B), Max Peck (9th, B) and Noah Arjomand (4th, C) battled in the epee.
The women's team took fourth in the three-weapon score, while taking second in the epee, fourth in the foil and seventh in the sabre.
Cara DiGirolamo (8th, A), Staci Dubov (9th, B) and Jessica Fields (6th, C) competed in the sabre, while Sara Jew-Lim (4th, A), Karen Petsche (5th, B) and Ann Gong (4th, C) were in the foil. Erin McGarry (3rd, A), Jasjit Bhinder (1st, B) and Chandler Clay (5th, C) were in the epee.
Princeton will visit Fairleigh Dickinson University this weekend for the NCAA MId-Atlantic/South Regional. More information on the meet and Princeton's participants will be released later in the week.
