No. 75 Men's Tennis Wins at No. 69 Brown, 5-2
April 06, 2007 | Men's Tennis
Sratha Saengsuwarn won the three-set clincher for Princeton at No. 2 singles as the No. 75 Tigers battled back from losing the doubles point to defeat No. 69 Brown, 5-2, in a men's tennis match played in Providence Friday afternoon.
Princeton (8-5, 1-1 Ivy) rebounded from a Brown sweep of the doubles matches to quickly take the lead in singles. Alex Krueger-Wyman defeated Saurabh Kohli 6-3 and 6-3 at No. 4 for the Tigers' first win, and George Carpeni's 6-4, 6-4 win over Eric Thomas at No. 3 gave Princeton a lead it would not relinquish. Peter Capkovic then gave Princeton a 3-1 advantage when he won a first-set tiebreak and then the second set over Dan Hanegby at No. 1.
Saengsuwarn then continued his superb spring at No. 2 by outlasting Basu Ratnam 6-4 in the third to give Princeton its third win this season over a nationally-ranked opponent.
Ted Mabrey would earn Princeton's final singles win when Brown's Chris Lee was forced to retire with Mabrey having won the first set and the second set tied at 2-2.
Brown was playing its Ivy League opener. The Bears fell to 15-8 overall on the season.
Princeton plays at Yale Saturday afternoon.
