Men's Heavyweight Crew Retains Logg Cup
April 07, 2007 | Heavyweight Rowing
The men's heavyweight crew team bested Rutgers by six seconds to retain the Logg Cup on Saturday. After a solid win over Navy last week, the Tigers traveled up Route 1 and swept all three races from the Scarlet Knights. Both teams dealt with near-freezing temperatures, headwinds, and the choppy Raritan River waters, but both teams' varsity eight boats crossed the finish line in less than six minutes. The Tigers posted a time of 5:48.1 to the Scarlet Knights' 5:54.6. The second varsity four won with a time of 6:49.1, while the novice eight made an impressive showing by crossing the finish line in 5:57.8.
The men's heavyweight team travels to New York City next Saturday to row against Columbia and Penn.
