Iacono Named Ivy Player of the Week
May 01, 2007 | Baseball
Senior third baseman Sal Iacono was named this week's Ivy League Player of the Week for his performances over the last week. Iacono batted .650 in five games last week, going 13 for 20 at the plate as Princeton came 90 feet away from forcing a Gehrig Division playoff game against Penn.
Princeton needed to win all four games against Cornell to force the playoff and won the first three before falling in 12 innings in the fourth game. Iacono had 10 singles in the five games last week and added a double, triple and home run. The senior also drove in four runs and scored four runs while being perfect in the field. Iacono's week raised his team-leading batting average to .424.
Princeton will complete its 2007 season on Wednesday when it hosts Rider at 3:30 p.m.
