Women's Squash Claims Four All-America, Three All-Ivy Honors
May 11, 2007 | Women's Squash
The 2006-07 Ivy League and national champion Princeton women's squash team capped its magical season with several individual honors. Senior Claire Rein-Weston led a cast of four players who earned All-America honors and three players who earned All-Ivy honors.
Both Rein-Weston and freshman Neha Kumar were named first-team All-America, and both earned All-Ivy honors. Kumar, who reached the national semifinals of the Gail Ramsay Cup, was one of the premier No. 2 players in the nation and swept her three matches in the Howe Cup championships. She ended the season ranked fifth nationally and will enter her sophomore season as a contender for the national individual championship.
Rein-Weston, who served as tri-captain with Marilla Hiltz and Anina Nolan, was a terrific leader for the Tigers while playing No. 1. She had her signature win of the season with a 3-1 victory over eventual national finalist Kristen Lange, and she provided stiff challenges to the rest of the top players in the nation. Rein-Weston, who has owned the No. 1 position throughout much of her Princeton career, is a four-time All-Ivy and All-America selection.
Freshman Amanda Siebert and junior Casey Riley both earned second-team All-America honors. Siebert, the third Princeton player to earn All-Ivy honors, played No. 3 most of the season and was a consistent force at the spot. Riley went undefeated in the middle of the lineup and will be one of the seniors who will need to provide leadership for a fairly young squad in 2007-08.
