Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The Princeton men's golf team ended its spring season Sunday with an
eighth-place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn
State.
The Nittany Lions won the meet by 12 shots over Austin Peay. Eastern Kentucky, Wright State, Liberty, Towson and Seton Hall filled in the second through seventh slots ahead of the Tigers. Youngstown State, Villanova, George Mason and Morehead State rounded out the 12-team field.
Senior John Sawin tied for ninth in his last collegiate event, shooting a 71, 74 and 81 to finish the tournament at +10. Sophomore Max Schechter (74-78-86) and freshman Jake Skinner (76-78-84) both finished at +22, tying for 33rd. Sophomore Andrew Maliniak (76-80-85) tied for 43rd at +25, while freshman Juan Pablo Candela (84-78-88) placed 61st at +34.
Penn State's Robert Rohanna won the individual title at +1 as scores rose dramatically across the board for Sunday's final round. Between the two rounds Saturday, there were 43 rounds carded at 80 or above among the 67 players. In one round Sunday, 50 of the 67 players shot 80 or higher. Rohanna posted a low round of 73 Sunday while Grant Leaver of Austin Peay had the low round for the tournament, a 69 Saturday. Rohanna won the tournament by two shots over Wright State's Brandon Knutson as Leaver finished third at +5.
