Princeton's No. 1 and No. 2 singles players on both the men's and women's sides, Peter Capkovic and Sratha Saengsuwarn for the men and Ivana King and Melissa Saiontz for the women, each earned All-Ivy honors in a vote of the league's head coaches announced Tuesday.
Capkovic, King and Saiontz were first-team All-Ivy honorees, while Saengsuwarn was a second-team All-Ivy selection. On the women's side, senior Darcy Robertson earned second-team All-Ivy honors in doubles along with freshman Sarah Huah and was also an honorable mention All-Ivy singles player.
King and Saiontz combined to win 31 of 38 matches at Nos. 1 and 2 singles for the Princeton women this spring. King, a junior, had an impressive 17-2 overall mark this spring and an 11-1 mark at No. 2 singles. Saiontz, a freshman, was 14-5 overall in the spring and won 10 matches at the No. 1 spot.
Capkovic was Princeton's No. 1 singles player throughout his sophomore year and finished with an 11-6 mark this spring in addition to spending much of the spring in the national singles rankings. Saengsuwarn was nearly unbeatable at No. 2 singles throughout the Ivy League season, and he finished the spring 12-3 at the No. 2 spot and 13-3 overall.
Robertson and Huah played at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles for Princeton during the spring and won a team-high seven doubles matches. In singles, Robertson had and 8-6 record while playing at the No. 3 spot.
Both the Princeton men and women finished in third place in the Ivy standings with 5-2 league records in 2007, and each was nationally ranked throughout the season and at the end of their regular seasons in late April. The men finished with a 12-6 overall record, while the women had a 13-7 mark this past spring.
