Princeton Coaches To Throw Out Ceremonial First Pitch Tuesday Night At Waterfront Park

Charles W. Caldwell Jr. '25 Head Coach of Football Roger Hughes, Franklin C. Cappon-Edward G. Green '40 Head Coach of Men's Basketball Sydney Johnson and women's basketball coach Courtney Banghart will join the Princeton Tiger mascot in throwing out the first pitch at Tuesday night's Trenton Thunder game against the Portland Sea Dogs at Waterfront Park.
Game time is 7:05 p.m., with the ceremonial first pitch taking place at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday is also "Hat Night" at Waterfront Park, with the first 1,500 fans ages six and over receiving a free Trenton Thunder cap.
The Princeton coaches will also spent a half-inning each on WBUD-AM 1260 with veteran Thunder broadcaster and former Princeton basketball play-by-play announcer Dan Loney.
Hughes is entering his eighth season at Princeton after leading the Tigers to an Ivy League championship in 2006. Princeton's nine wins last year were its most since the 1964 season.
Johnson, a 1997 Princeton graduate and the only three-time captain in team history, was named the men's basketball head coach in April. He previously was an assistant coach at Georgetown, where he helped the Hoyas reach the Final Four in 2007.
Banghart was named head coach in May after a standout coaching and playing career at Dartmouth College. She is the Ivy League's all-time leader in three-point goals in women's basketball.
The Thunder, the "AA" affiliate of the New York Yankees, currently leads the Eastern League's Northern Division standings, while Portland, the "AA" affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, is currently in second place in the division.
