Men's Golf Stands 12th at Minnesota Gopher Invite

WAYZATA, Minn. -- Sophomore Juan Pablo Candela leads the Princeton men's golf contingent through two rounds at the Minnesota Gopher Invitational outside Minneapolis as the Tigers stand 12th as a team.
Candela fired a 71 and an 83 to stand at 10-over, tying for 41st overall. Fellow sophomore Greg Stamas is tied for 54th at 16-over with a 79 and 81, while junior Max Schechter is 60th at +19 with an 82 and 81. Sophomore Jake Skinner is tied for 63rd at +21 with an 84 and 81 to round out the Princeton scorers, while junior Andrew Maliniak is tied for 65th at +24 with an 87 and 81.
As a team, Princeton is at +64 in the 12-team field. Lamar leads the tournament at even par, while Wisconsin's Danny Zimmerman is atop the individual standings at -8 after carding the tournament's low round of 66 and following it with a 70.
The final 18 holes of the first of five fall tournaments for the Tigers will be played Sunday.
