Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Minnesota Gopher Invite

WAYZATA, Minn. -- The Princeton men's golf team finished 12th at the three-round Minnesota Gopher Invitational Sunday. Sophomore Juan Pablo Candela led the Tigers at 16-over.
Candela finished tied for 39th with a 78 on the final day after a 71 and 83 Saturday. Junior Max Schechter 56th at 23-over with a final-round 76 to go with his 82 and 81 on day one, while sophomore Greg Stamas finished 59th at 25-over with a 79, 81 and 81. Sophomore Jake Skinner completed the Princeton scorers, finishing 34-over with his 84, 81 and 85 in 64th, and junior Andrew Maliniak was right behind in 65th at +36 with his 87, 81 and 84.
Lamar University held its lead through the final round at 4-over, while the Cardinals' Casey Clendenon and Wisconsin's Danny Zimmerman shared the individual title at -1. Arkansas, Wisconsin, Indiana, Notre Dame, SMU, Michigan State, Minnesota, San Diego, Illinois and Georgia Southern completed the field ahead of the Tigers.
Princeton will compete in the second of its five tournaments at the McLaughlin Invitational in Farmingdale, N.Y., next Friday and Saturday.
