Men's Water Polo Splits Two Games at Home

It was a tight day at DeNunzio Pool as the 16th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team won a game by a goal and lost a game by a goal. The Tigers opened the day with a 12-11 loss to Johns Hopkins, the edged George Washington 10-9 in overtime to split the day's games.
In the opener, Princeton got off to a rough start and found itself trailing 7-2 less than two minutes into the second quarter. Princeton's defense strengthened from there and held the Blue Jays scoreless for nearly two quarters and led 9-8 after three quarters. The lead would not hold however, as Johns Hopkins rallied to the 12-11 win.
Senior Zach Beckmann led the offense with three goals in the game, while sophomore Mark Zalewski contributed two goals. Senior Scott Syverson made eight saves.

In the day's second game, the Tigers needed overtime to get by George Washington 10-9. The game was tight throughout and was tied after three of the four regulation quarters. Princeton used goals from sophomore Gregor Horstmeyer and Matt Hudnall in the first overtime to pull ahead 10-8. George Washington added a goal in the second overtime but was unable to draw even and the Tigers held on for the win.
