Tigers Advance To ECAC Invitational Semifinals With 5-2 Win Over Yale

Princeton won a hotly-contested 5-2 decision against Yale in the ECAC Division I Invitational quarterfinal round Saturday, winning a close doubles point before getting straight-set wins from Alex Krueger-Wyman at No. 3 and Alex Vuckovic at No. 4 to help clinch in singles.
Krueger-Wyman won a tight 7-5 first set over Rory Green before using a dominating 6-1 second set to win the match. Vuckovic gutted out a 6-4, 7-6 win over Connor Dawson at No. 4, winning the second-set tiebreak by a 7-5 score.
The Tigers clinched the match when Peter Capkovic completed a comeback from a set down by defeating Michael Caldwell 6-2 in the third set at No. 1 singles. Capkovic had also joined with Vuckovic to win at No. 2 doubles 8-5.
Princeton clinched the doubles point when Krueger-Wyman and Carpeni won in a tiebreak against Green and Calvin Bennett at No. 1.
The Tigers, who also got a singles win from Charlie Brosens at No. 6, play No. 7 Brown in the semifinals Sunday morning. The Bears upset No. 2 seed Columbia in another quarterfinal match Saturday.
