Addie Micir Sweeps Ivy League Women's Basketball Weekly Honors
January 14, 2008 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON -- Addie Micir was named both the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week Monday following her career-high and game-high 22-point performance in a 69-57 win over Penn Saturday night.
The rookie award is Micir's second in four weeks after receiving the honor Dec. 17. With Micir picking up three, this week's dual honors give Princeton four on the season after Meagan Cowher shared the Ivy Player of the Week award Nov. 26. It was the first time in four years that any Ivy League freshman swept both the Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors.
Saturday night was the fifth time this season Micir has reached double-digits in points, topping her previous best of 18 points against Syracuse Dec. 16.
Micir added six rebounds and was 7 of 7 from the free-throw line as the Tigers won their Ivy League opener over Penn for the third straight year. Princeton is now beginning a 19-day break from competition before finals and will have its first full Ivy League weekend Feb. 1-2 at Dartmouth and Harvard.
