Princeton Downs Queens in Regular Season Finale, Southerns Loom Ahead

PRINCETON -- The 16th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team closed out the regular season with a 15-5 win over Queens on Wednesday night at DeNunzio Pool. Sophomore Jeff Cole scored three goals in the win.
In a game that was never in doubt, Princeton jumped ahead 3-1 after a quarter and pulled away throughout the night, leading 8-2 at the half and extending the lead to the 10-goal margin of victory.
Five Tigers scored multiple goals in the game, led by Cole's three. In addition, junior Eric Vreeland, sophomore Tommy Parolin, junior Douglas Wigley and junior Scott Hvidt added two goals each. Four others scored in the game. Hvidt made nine saves in a half in goal and classmate Henry Fyfe had five saves in the second half.
Princeton is now off for 10 days before returning to action on Nov. 8 when it hosts Southerns. The tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 7, but Princeton does not play until Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. when it hosts either George Washington or Salem International. Princeton is the second seed for the Southern Championships.
