Women's Basketball Takes on Regional Rival Rutgers

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/17/08) ? Regional rivals Princeton and Rutgers will go head-to-head in women's basketball on Tuesday, Nov. 18 when the teams tip-off at 7:30 p.m., at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

The Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series, 12-3 and have won the last nine meetings. Last season at Jadwin Gym, No. 6 Rutgers had just a two-point lead at halftime, 26-24 and ended up winning by five points.
Princeton enters the game with a 1-0 record, having defeating Fordham, 69-57 on Nov. 14. Sophomore Addie Micir led the Tigers with 19 points, including three 3-pointers and going 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Freshman Lauren Edwards and senior Whitney Downs also contributed double digits in points, at 14 and 13, respectively. The pair also had three steals apiece. Junior Cheryl Stevens led the team on the glass with seven rebounds and senior Jessica Berry had a team-best three assists. Overall, the Raiders shot 39.2 percent and outrebounded the Rams by six.
Rutgers is ranked No. 3/5 in the national preseason polls and defeated St. Joseph's 86-59 in the season opener on Nov. 14. Epiphanny Prince led the Scarlet Knights with 26 points and also had seven steals and four assists. Kia Vaughn and Brooklyn Pope, had 11 and 10 points apiece. Pope led the team with eight rebounds while Vaughn took the lead in blocks. As a team, Rutgers shot 48.6 percent and had 16 more rebounds than the Hawks.
