November 03, 2008 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON -- Alissa Boddie has been named the Ivy League's Player and Rookie of the Week for women's soccer after her seven-point performance against Cornell Saturday night.
The points, on three goals and an assist, were Boddie's first of her Princeton career and helped the Tigers to a 4-1-1 record in the Ivy League with the 4-0 win. Boddie moved to the No. 3 spot on Princeton's goal and points list for the season in one night. No other Ivy League team scored three goals Saturday night when all eight were in action.
The award is Princeton's second of the season after Sarah Peteraf was named the Ivy Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 6.
Boddie was also named as one of 15 players nationally in Division I to SoccerBuzz.com's Elite Team of the Week and was chosen as the ECAC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Princeton will look for at least a share of the Ivy League title Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. when it hosts Penn. A win will get the Tigers their ninth Ivy title, while an outright title and an automatic NCAA berth will also depend on the outcome of the Columbia-Harvard game earlier in the day.
