Fencing Teams Finish Ivy "North" Competition, Host "South" Meet Sunday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. ? The Princeton fencing teams each won one bout Sunday in the Ivy League “North” round-robin bouts contested at Yale.
The men's team went 1-2 against Harvard, Brown and Columbia, defeating the Bears 19-8 in between an 18-9 loss to the Crimson and a 21-6 defeat to the Lions. The women's team defeated Cornell 17-10 but fell to Harvard 17-10, Brown 16-11 and Columbia 19-8.
Columbia used the wins over the Tigers to propel itself to first place on both the men's and women's sides. The Columbia men's team, at 2-0, leads Harvard and Penn, both at 2-1, with Princeton and Yale at 1-2 and Brown at 0-2. The Lion women are 3-0, ahead of Brown, Harvard and Penn each at 2-1, the Tigers at 1-3 and Yale at 0-4.
Individually, junior Jasjit Bhinder was the most successful Tiger female with a 10-2 record while Nate Sulat and John Stogin won the most bouts on the men's side with five apiece.
By weapon, Princeton's epeeists had winning records on both the men's and women's teams with the Tiger men going 14-13 and the women 21-15 in the weapon. The men's sabreists were also 14-13.
Princeton will host the Ivy “South” competition next Sunday, Feb. 10, with both Tiger teams facing Yale at 10 a.m. and Penn at 1:30 p.m. Other Ivy squads will also contest bouts at 11:30 a.m. on the main level of Jadwin Gym.
