UNCG Takes Series Finale From Princeton

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- UNC Greensboro got started with a four-run second inning and defeated the Princeton baseball team 13-2 on Monday night. Sophomore David Hale drove in both Tiger runs when he hit his second home run of the season in the fourth inning.
The Spartans got off to a fast start in the win scoring four times in the second. Corey Overholtzer plated the first two runs with a double, then Ray Quinones made it 4-0 with a two-run homer. UNCG added a run in the third before the Tigers made the score 5-2 with two runs in the fourth.
UNCG got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning and then added five more in the fifth inning. The Spartans closed out the scoring with two runs in the sixth inning.
Sophomore Jack Murphy had three of Princeton's seven hits in the win. Senior Micah Kaplan also singled in the game and scored a run on the Hale homer.
Senior Christian Staehely took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits in three innings. Four other pitchers each worked an inning of relief. Freshman Matt Grabowski and sophomore Jon Broscious pitched scoreless innings of relief.
Princeton dropped its third game of the series and is now 6-4 this season. The Tigers continue their Spring Break trip tomorrow night with the first of two games against North Carolina.
