Indiana and Michigan Top Princeton in Women's Water Polo at Elite Six

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The 18th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team was swept by 20th-ranked Indiana and 12th-ranked Michigan on Day 2 of the Elite Six Tournament at Maryland. Freshman Lauren Brunner scored two goals in the Indiana loss while junior Claire Jacobson had two goals in a loss to Michigan.
Indiana jumped out to a 2-1 lead after a quarter of action and pulled ahead by scoring three times in the second quarter, while limiting Princeton to zero goals in the period. Indiana led by four at the half and maintained that advantage to the finish, winning 9-5. Brunner led Princeton with two goals and three others added single goals. Freshman Christina Michel made eight saves. Indiana was 5 for 9 in man-up situations, while the Tigers were just 1 for 9 in those situations.
In the Michigan game, Princeton fell 7-6 as the 12th-ranked Wolverines scored with 40 seconds to play to pull out the one-goal win. Jacobson scored twice in the loss while four others added single goals.
The losses drop Princeton to 7-5 overall this season. The Tigers have next weekend off, but return to action on March 14 at the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State.
