Women's Tennis Trips No. 72 Dartmouth, 5-2
April 11, 2008 | Women's Tennis
Princeton had a trio of three-set singles wins, two of them of the come-from-behind variety, on the way to a 5-2 victory over No. 72 Dartmouth in a women's tennis match played at the Lenz Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
With the lights on and the team match tied at 2-2, the Tigers (9-8, 2-2 Ivy) came through in the clutch to earn their second win over a ranked opponent this season.
First, Taylor Marable improved to 4-0 at No. 3 singles during the Ivy League season with a comeback win over Mary Beth Winingham. The Princeton freshman lost the first set 6-3 but came back strong to win the match 6-4* in the third.
The Tigers then clinched the match thanks to another freshman, Sarah Hoffman, who closed out Ryan Reichel 6-2 in the third set. At No. 5, Sarah Huah also won in three sets, coming from behind to beat Carley Markowitz 6-2 in the final set.
Princeton got off to a great start in the match by winning all three doubles matches. The Tigers clinched the doubles point when Marable and classmate Rebecca Parks outlasted Molly Scott and Megan Zebroski in a tiebreak at No. 1.
The Tigers host Harvard at the Lenz Tennis Center (Jadwin Gym in case of inclement weather) Saturday at noon.
