Princeton Coaches Banghart, Flores Run in WBCA's 4-Kay Event
April 14, 2008 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON -- Princeton women's basketball coaches Courtney Banghart and Milena Flores participated in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's 4-Kay run at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Tampa, Fla. on Sat., April 5.
The race is named for North Carolina State women's basketball coach Kay Yow, who is fighting breast cancer, and in honor of whom the WBCA sponsors a breast cancer research fund. That charity was the national beneficiary of the WBCA's Think Pink event, in which Princeton participated during its Feb. 23 game.
"I spent an afternoon with Coach Yow two years ago, talking about leadership and coaching and I found her to be one the most inspirational people whom I have ever spent time," Banghart said. "Both Milena and I were thrilled to be able to participate in this special event as both a tribute to Coach Yow and as a solidarity effort to play our small part in helping to find a cure to this horrible disease. The weather conditions were perfect and it was incredibly moving to see so many coaches take part in such a great cause."
