Men's Tennis Falls At Columbia, 5-2
April 19, 2008 | Men's Tennis
Peter Capkovic won in both singles and doubles for Princeton, but Columbia won singles matches three through six in straight sets on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in a men's tennis match played at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Capkovic beat Jon Wong at No. 1 singles 6-3 and 6-4. Earlier in the match, he had teamed with freshman Ryan Kim at No. 3 doubles to defeat Jared Drucker and Justin Chow; Columbia (9-6, 4-2 Ivy) won the doubles point, however, taking the top two matches.
Princeton (9-10, 1-5 Ivy) also got a win at No. 2 singles, where George Carpeni won a 10-point proset against Mark Clemente after coming from behind to force a third set with a 6-3 second-set victory.
Senior Jonathan Leslie played well in a 6-4, 6-4 defeat to Chow at No. 5 singles.
The Tigers conclude their season Sunday afternoon against Cornell at the Lenz Tennis Center (Jadwin Gym in case of inclement weather).
