PRINCETON -- The Princeton men's golf team will visit Charlottesville, Va., for the Cavalier Classic Saturday and Sunday for their final tournament of the 2008 spring season.
The Tigers will join host Virginia and 19 other teams at the tournament, including Appalachian State, Augusta State, Delaware, East Carolina, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Maryland, North Carolina State, UNC Greensboro, Old Dominion, Radford, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall, Temple, and Tennessee State.
The tournament's home, Birdwood Country Club, is a par-72 that measures 6,879 yards for the two-round tournament with 18 holes each day. Princeton drew the first set of tee times Saturday and will begin at 8 a.m. Princeton has played in three previous tournaments this spring, most recently the Ivy League Championship where the Tigers tied for fifth.
The Cavalier Classic is in its 23rd year since beginning in 1986 at the alma mater of Princeton head coach Will Green. Its 1992 champion was Georgia Tech's David Duval, who went on to have a highly successful pro career that included a 2001 British Open win and two Masters runners-up.
