Fifth-Ranked Heavyweights Win Carnegie Cup Against Cornell, Yale

The fifth-ranked Princeton heavyweight crew regained the Carnegie Cup Saturday morning with a victory over both Cornell and Yale at Lake Carnegie. Princeton won both the first varsity and first freshman races and improved to 6-1 on the season.
Princeton claimed the Carnegie Cup by finishing the first varsity race in 5:55.5, more than three seconds faster than Cornell and five full seconds faster than 2007 winner Yale. Cornell came back with wins in both the second and third varsity races, but Princeton posted a winning time of 6:01.5 in the first novice race.
The Tigers improved to 4-1 against Ivy League teams, and they can move to 5-1 next weekend with a victory over No. 2 Brown. The race will be held at Lake Carnegie Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
