Princeton to Host Monmouth Tuesday Afternoon

The Princeton baseball team returns to Clarke Field Tuesday afternoon with a non-conference game against Monmouth. Princeton and Monmouth met last Tuesday and each played four league games over the weekend.
Princeton split a pair of doubleheaders at Yale and Brown and is now 12-14 overall and 4-4 in the Ivy League. The Tigers dropped one-run games in the first game of both twin bills, before winning by three runs in both nightcaps.
Senior Spencer Lucian led all Tigers offensively with a .421 average during the week. He was 8 for 19 with two doubles and he drove in five runs. Junior Dan DeGeorge and sophomores Jon Broscious, David Hale and Jack Murphy all hit above .300 during the week. DeGeorge scored a team-high seven runs, while Broscious hit three homers and drove in nine runs.
Princeton's 4-4 league record leaves Princeton a game behind Columbia in the Gehrig Division standings, pending the results of Monday's doubleheader between Columbia and Dartmouth. Columbia is 5-1 in league play. Penn (1-4) and Cornell (0-6) trails Princeton in the standings.
Lucian continues to lead the Tigers at the player with a .452 batting average and 42 hits in 93 at bats. He also has a .523 on-base percentage, which leads the team. Murphy leads the Tigers with five home runs and 27 RBIs and his .392 average is second highest on the squad. Hale gives the Tigers three batters above the .300 mark with a .303 average. Broscious took a big jump during the week, raising his average from .220 to .256. He had seven hits, nine RBIs and three home runs during the week.

Monmouth won the game 11-8, rallying from an 8-6 deficit with five runs in the sixth inning. Broscious had two hits and drove in two in the loss, while Monmouth's Nick Pulsonetti and John Dennis each drove in four runs.
