Burton Lifts Men's Soccer to Victory Over FDU

TEANECK, N.J. (9/28/08) ? Sophomore defender Ben Burton scored at 84:21 to give the Princeton University men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, September 28 at University Field. The goal was Burton's first collegiate tally.
Junior midfielder Devin Muntz set up Burton's game-winning goal when he lofted a free kick into a crowd in front of the net at 84:21.
From the opening kick, Princeton took immediate control of the game, dominating the first half with five shots to FDU's two. The Tigers managed to get out in front of the Knights and arranged for five corner kicks in the first half compared to one for FDU.
Sophomore Brandon Busch tallied his second goal of the season at 32:05 to help Princeton take the 1-0 lead. The goal came just five minutes after he checked into the game. Burton assisted on the goal when he took a free kick from the right side and the ball found its way to Busch who blasted it into the goal.
FDU tied it up 15 minutes into the second half, when Samson Malijani converted a penalty kick at 60:29.
Senior Joe Walter stopped three shots, all of which came in the second half, for his first win of the season. Majdi Zaineh started in net for the Knights and made three saves. After playing 34 minutes, he was replaced by Juho Illi, who went on to stop four shots.
Princeton outshot FDU, 11-8 and had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Princeton (2-5) will take on Loyola in Baltimore, Md. on Wednesday, October 1 at 5 p.m.
