Nestor Brice?o Named Men's Tennis Assistant Coach
January 15, 2009 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON ? Princeton men's tennis head coach Glenn Michibata has named Florida alum Nestor Brice?o as his top assistant coach.
Brice?o, who graduated from Florida last spring with a bachelor's degree in political science, was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference honoree in 2006 before earning second-team honors in 2007.
“I am excited to announce Nestor Brice?o as our new assistant coach,” Michibata said. “Nestor comes to us after a very successful college career at Florida, where he captained one of the powerhouse tennis programs in Division I and a perennial top-10 team. Nestor is a proven winner at the highest level of college tennis and is now ready to pass on that experience to our players. We are fortunate that he has chosen Princeton as the place where he will start his collegiate coaching career.”
In 2005, Brice?o's Gators won the SEC regular-season and tournament titles before advancing to the NCAA semifinals. During the following season, Florida reached the No. 1 spot on the national team polls.
Prior to college, Brice?o was a three-time youth state champion in Florida and was a two-time USTA national champion in his age group while reaching the national finals in two other years. Brice?o had a final youth ranking of No. 2 in the U.S. and No. 20 in the world, giving him the opportunity to represent the U.S. in the World Youth Tennis Cup in the Czech Republic.
Brice?o, a native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., is also fluent in Spanish and was a dean's list and SEC Honor Roll selection every year as a collegian.
