Women's Basketball Resumes Ivy League Action at Jadwin

PRINCETON, N.J. (1/27/09) ? After a two-week hiatus, the Princeton women's basketball team returns to the hardwoods for its first full Ivy League weekend. The Tigers host Dartmouth on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m., and Harvard on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.

The Tigers are 6-9 overall and defeated Penn 64-49 the last time out. Sophomore Addie Micir is the team's leading scorer, with 12.0 points per game. She is shooting 40.0 percent from long range and 86.5 percent from the free-throw line. Freshman Lauren Edwards is contributing 9.7 points per game and senior Whitney Downs is adding 9.1 points per game. Downs leads the team in steals with 23, while Edwards has 20. Freshman Devona Allgood is the top rebounder with 6.0 boards per game. She also leads the team with 20 blocks.
Dartmouth leads Princeton in the all-time series, 41-19. The Big Green won both games last season, the first by 13 points, the second by 12 points. The Tigers' last win was Feb. 23, 2007, a five-point victory.
Dartmouth has won its last three games, including a 59-55 victory over Harvard in the Ivy League opener. The squad most recently defeated Bryant, 71-56 on Jan. 24. Brittney Smith is the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.5 points per game. She is also the team's leading rebounder with 8.3 boards per game. Smith has a team-high 18 blocks, to go along with 29 steals and 23 assists. Koren Schram is contributing 12.7 points per game and has a team-best 33 steals. Schram is one of the team's best free throw shooters, hitting 78.4 percent of her shots. She is also likely to take the ball to the outside, scoring on 34 of her 105 three point attempts. Darcy Rose is chipping in 8.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Princeton and Dartmouth have one common opponent, Stony Brook. The Tigers handily defeated the Seawolves, 88-41 on Nov. 22, while the Big Green recorded a 59-47 win on Dec. 13.
Like Princeton, Harvard has been on a two-week break as well. However this will be the last year that Harvard will keep this academic schedule. The Crimson's last game was a 59-55 loss to Dartmouth on Jan. 10 at Lavietes Pavillion. Emma Markley is the team's top point scorer, averaging 13.3 points per game. She also leads the team under the basket, collecting an average of 6.8 rebounds per game. Markley has a team-high 18 blocks and has contributed 15 steals. Emily Tay and Brogan Berry are adding 10.5 and 10.3 points per game. Tay leads the team in steals and assists with 27 steals and 77 assists, respectively. Berry is the team's best free throw shooter, nailing 47 of her 57 attempts. From long range, the Crimson put the ball in the hands of Niki Finelli who has drained 22 of her 55 chances.
