Football Announces Tentative Schedules Through 2017
January 05, 2009 | Football
For those looking for future autumn visits to Princeton, you can now make sure you're able to see the Tiger football program in action. The Princeton football team announced its tentative schedule through 2017; over that time, the Tigers will renew their rivalries with Hampton, The Citadel and San Diego and will add meetings against both Davidson and Georgetown.
All dates are tentative, as games could be moved throughout the weekend to accommodate television. As each season nears, a definitive schedule will be announced on the web site.
A few tidbits to note: in both 2010 and 2017, Princeton will play six home games. Princeton will complete its home-and-home with Hampton when it travels to Virginia Oct. 8, 2011, to take on the Pirates. The next season, Princeton will take on Georgetown for the first time since 1923; the Tigers will host Georgetown Set. 22, 2012 and will travel to the current home of John Thompson III for a Sept. 28, 2013 matchup. The two teams will also play a home-and-home series in 2016-2017. Davidson is slated to make its first trip to Princeton on Sept. 27, 2014; in their only previous meeting, Princeton went on the road and defeated Davidson 42-6 in 1987.
The Ivy League schedules will seem very familiar to you, as Princeton plays the same order of teams it has since the 2000 season. The Tigers will host Yale every odd year and Harvard every even year.
