Lester Nare Named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week
October 19, 2009 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON (10/19/09) - Freshman Lester Nare of the Princeton men's soccer team has been named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week presented by Princeton Army ROTC for the week ending on Oct 18.
Nare led Princeton in scoring with five points in two games, averaging 2.5 points per gam. He scored his first goal of the season, the game-tying goal over St. John's, a final four team from last season, and followed up with a three-point effort in a 3-0 win over Columbia. The win marked Princeton's first win in seven games.
Against St. John's, Princeton found itself a goal down just four minutes into the game, but Nare tied the game in the 50th minute when he picked up a pass from teammate Matt Sanner inside the box. For his efforts, Nare earned his first career start on Saturday against Columbia where he factored into two of three goals. Nare set up Princeton's first goal when he sent a great cross into the box where teammate Ben Harms was able to head it into the net. He then scored Princeton's second goal in the 65th minute after a long Princeton throw in from 20 yards out. Standing next to the goalkeeper, Nare was able to get to the ball first and knock it across the line.
