Men's Soccer 10th in Latest RPI
October 28, 2009 | General, Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. (10/28/09) - The second Division I men's soccer ratings percentage index (RPI) was released by the NCAA on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Princeton is ranked 10th out of the 204 schools that sponsor the sport, the highest of any Ivy League school.
The NCAA uses the RPI as the most important criteria in selecting the 48-team field for the NCAA Tournament. The RPI is a mathematical formula designed to objectively compare results and strength of schedule.
The Tigers are 7-5-2 overall and have played a tough schedule with games against nationally-ranked teams including Monmouth, UC-Irvine, San Diego State, Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard. Princeton has three remaining games on its schedule, against Cornell, Penn and Yale. Princeton's RPI will be adjusted to account for the quality of those teams as well as results against those teams. In the RPI, Cornell is 110th, Penn 60th and Yale 73rd.
Princeton hosts Cornell this Saturday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
