All-time Princeton is 25-13 in home openers and won the home opener the past five seasons. Last year, the Tigers topped Stony Brook 88-41 at Jadwin Gym.
American is 2-0 in the series with Princeton. The Eagles won a 63-56 game back in 1979 and took a 59-44 win last season in D.C.
Princeton posted a 68-43 win over Stony Brook in its season opener on Friday, Nov. 13. Freshman Niveen Rasheed led the Tigers with 18 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the floor. In addition, Rasheed had a team-high nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore Lauren Edwards chipped in 13 points and five rebounds. Juniors Addie Micir and Krystal Hill along with sophomore Devona Allgood all had eight points apiece. As a team, the Tigers shot 43.6 percent from the floor and hit 16 of their 25 free throws.
American opened its season on Friday with a 71-59 victory over Howard. Junior Michelle Kirk scored a game-high 25 points, shooting 10-for-20. She added seven rebounds and three assists. Junior Liz Leer added 18 points, going 8-for-13 from the floor and led the team in rebounds and assists, with eight and four, respectively. The Eagles shot 46.8 percent from the field, was 6-for-15 from three-point range, and 7-for-12 from the free-throw line.
