HAMDEN, Conn. (11/25/09) -- Ninth-ranked Quinnipiac scored four goals in the first 6:18 of the second period to build a lead in a 5-1 win over the Princeton men's hockey team on Wednesday night at the TD Banknorth Sports Center.
After a scoreless first period that saw Princeton outshoot Quinnipiac 11-6, the Bobcats took advantage of four Tiger penalties in the second period, converting on all four in building a 5-0 lead through 40 minutes of play.
Jeremy Langlois opened the scoring at 1:11 of the second when his shot off a faceoff snuck between the arm and body of Princeton senior goaltender Zane Kalemba and Brandon Wong made it 2-0 two minutes later when he was left alone in front and scored.
The Bobcats Clay Harvey made it 3-0 less than a minute later when his shot was blocked high into the air and bounced in the crease and into the net. Loren Barron added the final two goals, both on the power play with blasts from the point.
Princeton got on the board with the only goal of the third period when senior Dan Bartlett netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season after picking up a loose puck in the neutral zone, stepping around a defender and scoring high on the glove side of Bobcats goaltender Dan Clarke.
Clarke made 29 saves for the win, while Kalemba took the loss allowing four goals on 15 shots. Freshman Mike Condon made 12 saves in relief.
Princeton fell to 3-5-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the ECAC with the loss while Quinnipiac is now 11-1 overall and 7-0 in league play. The Tigers are off this weekend and return to action next Friday night at Brown.
