PRINCETON, N.J. (12/10/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team will play its final home game of the calendar year on Saturday, Dec. 12 when it hosts Lafayette at 2 p.m.

Princeton improved to 6-2 on the season after an 83-57 win at Rider on Tuesday. The Tigers came back from a 12-point deficit to earn the 26-point win. Freshman Niveen Rasheed leads the Tigers in scoring and in rebounding with 17.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 20 assists and 17 steals. Junior Addie Micir contributes 13.8 points per game, shooting a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line (10-10) and is 48.1 percent from long range, hitting 26 of her 54 shots. Sophomore Lauren Edwards adds 12.3 points per game, has 16 assists and 11 steals. Classmate Devona Allgood is second on the team in rebounding with 6.9 boards per game and puts up 9.4 points per game. The Tigers have a +14.8 scoring margin, averaging 71.1 points per game and limiting teams to 56.4 points. The team shoots 43 percent from the floor, 36.9 from long range and 70.5 from the charity stripe.
Princeton holds a slim 20-18 edge in the all-time series with Lafayette. The series began in February 1972 with the Leopards winning 35-34. Lafayette has won the last two games including a two-point win last year, rallying from a 22-point first half deficit. In the last decade, Princeton has a 7-3 advantage in the series, winning six straight from 2001-07.
Lafayette is 2-8 overall after a 69-39 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday. The team recored its two wins over Monmouth by three, and Penn by six. The Leopards are currently in game two of a six-game road swing, with today's game being their final game before their Christmas break. Lauren Jackson and LaKeisha Wright are the team's top scorers, averaging 13.3 and 12.4 points per game. Jackson has shot 42 for 47 from the free-throw line and has hit 17 of 46 three pointers. She also has 13 assists and nine steals. Wright has a team-high 13 steals, while Melissa Downey has recorded a team-best 22 assists. The Leopards don't have any dominant players under the glass, with no player averaging more than 3.8 rebounds per game, a stat held by Elizabeth Virgin. The team is shooting 35.3 percent, averaging 47.9 points per game, while holding opponents to 63.4 points per game. The Leopards are 28.6 percent from behind the arc and 74.2 percent free-throw line.
