PRINCETON, N.J. (12/18/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team will travel to the big state of Texas on Sunday, Dec. 20 to take on Houston at Hofheinz Pavilion at 1 p.m., CT.
The game will be webstreamed live for a fee, however live audio and stats will be provided free of charge.
Princeton is 8-2 overall and is on a three-game winning streak, after taking down Drexel 66-49 on Thursday night. The Tigers are led by freshman Niveen Rasheed, who has 17.7 points per game. She is second on the team in rebounding with 7.2 boards per game, has a team-high 25 assists and 23 steals. Junior Addie Micir adds 13.6 points per game and has drained 27 three-pointers. She has 24 assists and pulls down 3.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore Lauren Edwards contributes 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, and is second on the team in steals with 17 and has chipped in 19 assists. Classmate Devona Allgood is the team's leader under the basket, averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and has a team-high nine blocks. The Tigers are shooting 44.4 percent (270-608) from the field, 35.9 percent from long range and 70.1 percent from the line. The squad averages 71.5 points per game and holds teams to 54.7 points per game.
Houston enters Sunday's game with a 6-3 overall record. The Cougars have been on hiatus for the last 13 days, having not played a game since a 74-53 win over University of Texas San Antonio on Dec 7. Despite the two-week break, Houston rides a three-game winning streak. Brittney Scott is the team's leading scorer with 15.6 points per game and has knocked down 22 three-pointers. Courtney Taylor is chipping in 13.9 points per game and leads the team in rebounds with 10.1 per game and in blocks with 14. Roxana Button adds 10.2 points per game. Porsche Landry has a team-high 14 steals and 43 assists. The Cougars average 70.2 points per game and hold opponents to 62. They are shooting 40.0 percent (232-580) from the floor, 33.3 percent from behind the arc and 64.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Princeton and Houston are meeting for the first time. They have one common opponent in Delaware. The Tigers defeated the Blue Hens 68-59 at home back on Nov. 21. Houston lost to Delaware at the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., 72-43 one week later on Nov. 27.
