Allgood and Rasheed Named Ivy Player and Rookie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/21/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team swept the weekly Ivy League honors with sophomore Devona Allgood being named Player of the Week and Niveen Rasheed garnering Rookie of the Week honors, for the week ending Dec. 20.
Princeton went 2-0 this week, defeating Drexel 66-49 on Thursday in Philadelphia before handing Houston a 71-60 loss on its home court.
Allgood posted back-to-back double-doubles to earn her first Player of the Week honor. Last season she won three Rookie of the Week awards. She finished the week with 33 points, averaging 16.5 points per game, with an incredible 83.3 percent shooting from the field, missing just three of ther 18 shots. She also went 3 for 4 from the line, averaging 10.5 rebounds per game and had six blocks. Allgood collected her first double-double of the season against predicted CAA champion Drexel on Thursday with 10 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 6 for 8 and picking up a block. On Sunday, she scored a career-best 21 points while adding 11 rebounds. She had a near perfect game, going 9 for 10 from the floor and was 3 for 3 from the charity strope. Allgood also matched her personal-best in blocks with five against the Cougars.
Rasheed led Princeton with 51 points inin two games, averaging 25.5 points to earn her fifth Rookie of the Week honor in six weeks. She averaged 10.5 rebounds per game, had six assists, five steals and two blocks. Rasheed scored a career-high 27 points as Princeton defeated predicted CAA champion Drexel. She shot 11 for 16 from the floor and was 5 for 9 from the line. Rasheed added seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. On Sunday at Houston, Rasheed recorded her third double-double of the year, scoring 24 points and adding a game-high 14 rebounds. In addition she had three assists, two steals and one block.
The Tigers will take a week off for the holidays and will return on Wednesday, Dec. 30 when they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson for a 7 p.m., tip off.
