PRINCETON, N.J. (12/4/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team looks to take down regional rival Rutgers on Saturday, Dec. 5 when the Tigers host the Scarlet Knights at Jadwin Gym at 7 p.m.

Princeton is coming off of an 86-68 win over Lehigh from Wednesday night. The win gives the Tigers a 5-1 overall record and a 3-0 mark when playing at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers have three players averaging double figures in scoring, led by freshman Niveen Rasheed. Rasheed is scoring an average of 17 points per game, and is the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 7.8 boards per game. Sophomore Lauren Edwards is scoring 14.0 points per game while junior Addie Micir is dropping in 13.0 per game. Micir leads the Ivy League in three-point baskets made with 20 and has a team-best 15 assists. Rasheed and Edwards each have eight steals apiece and have combined for 26 assists and eight blocks. Both are shooting at a rate of over 50 percent. Princeton has a 44.1 field goal percentage, and is shooting 38.1 percent from behind the arc. The Tigers have also put away 72.4 percent of their free throws. The team has a +17.0 scoring margin and a +1.7 rebounding margin over its opponents.
Rutgers holds a 13-3 record in the all-time series with Princeton, that dates back to 1973 when the school was then named Douglass. The Scarlet Knights have won the last 10 meetings including an 83-35 win last season at the RAC. Princeton's last win game on Jan. 5, 1978, a 27-point victory.
Rutgers is off to a 4-4 start this season and most recently lost to Temple, 62-51. The Scarlet Knight's last victory was a 62-54 game over Mississippi State on Nov. 27 during the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. Brittany Ray leads Rutgers in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game. She also leads the team in assists with 25 and in steals with 15. Monique Oliver and April Sykes are contributing 8.8 and 8.5 points per game. Khadijah Rushdan is the team's leader under the basket, pulling down 7.0 rebounds per game. Rashidat Junaid and Oliver are both averaging 5.0 rebounds per game. The team is shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from long range and 74.1 percent from the charity stripe. The team has a +4.4 scoring margin and a +2.3 rebounding margin of its opponents.
