Women's Hoops Makes Short Trip to Rider on Tuesday

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/6/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team will make the short seven-mile trip down Route 206 to battle Rider on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.

The Tigers hold an 18-8 advantage in the all-time series with the Broncs that dates back to the 1972-73 season. Princeton won a 68-54 win last season and is 3-1 in the last four years since the teams resumed the series after a two-year hiatus.
Princeton is 5-2 overall and is looking to rebound from a 10-point loss to Rutgers from last Saturday. The Tigers are shooting 69.4 points per game and holding opponents to 56.3, for a +13.1 scoring margin. The team is shooting 42.5 percent form the floor, 36.2 from the three-point line, and 70.8 percent from the charity stripe.
Freshman Niveen Rasheed leads the team in points and in rebounds, scoring 17.3 points per game and grabbing 7.7 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 12 steals and has 14 assists. Sophomore Lauren Edwards and junior Addie Micir are contributing 12.7 and 12.6 points, respectively. Micir has a team-high 17 assists and is the team's hot shooter from behind the line, hitting 22 of 48 three pointers. Sophomore Devona Allgood has 6.7 rebounds per game, a team-high seven blocks and is dropping in 9.3 points per game.
Rider is 1-6 on the season with its lone win over Monmouth on Nov. 19. The team has gone 0-4 since that time, including a 65-56 loss to Fordham just last Saturday. Leading the offense is Tammy Meyers averaging 13.6 points per game and has a team-high 14 steals and 17 assists. She is shooting 84.6 percent from the free-throw line, missing just four of 26, but has gone 0 for 11 from behind the line. Cintella Spotwood and Amanda Sepulveda are picking up 12.7 and 12.1 points per game. Caitlin Bopp and Sarah Homan lead the team under the basket, as Bopp has 7.3 rebounds per game and Homan has nine blocks.
Rider is scoring 56.0 points per game compared to its opponents 68.6, and is shooting 35.3 percent from the floor. The team shoots 61.8 percent from the free-throw line atn 25.6 from long range.
