Rasheed Picks Up Fourth Straight Ivy League Honor

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/7/09) - Freshman Niveen Rasheed has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week in women's basketball for the week ending December 6. This is her fourth consecutive honor by the league.
Rasheed scored 40 points, averaging 20 points per game, as Princeton had a 1-1 week. The Tigers cruised to an 86-68 win over reigning Patriot League Champion Lehigh, before falling to Rutgers, a team receiving votes in the national poll, 60-50.
On Wednesday, Rasheed scored a personal-best 21 points against Lehigh and had a team-high eight rebounds. Against Rutgers, Rasheed scored 19 points and pulled down seven boards. She shot 11 for 14 from the free-throw line, and had four steals and two assists.
At the end of the week she averaged 7.5 rebounds per game and had six steals and three assists.
Princeton takes on Rider tomorrow, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., at Alumni Gym.
