Princeton's Pink Zone A Success
February 18, 2009 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. (2/18/09) ? The Princeton women's basketball team recently participated in the WBCA's Pink Zone on Friday, Feb. 13 in its game with Yale.
The squad wore full pink uniforms, including pink laces in their sneakers for the game. The coaching staff, cheerleaders and band also sported pink and when the officials had a foul to call, it was done with pink whistles.
“This year's Pink Zone was a remarkable success,” said Coach Banghart. “Jadwin Gym was a sea of pink, as people young and old came out to contribute to and participate in raising awareness for such a special cause. With the recent passing of Hall of Fame coach, Kay Yow, to breast cancer, Pink Zone carried special meaning this year for all programs across the country. It was a night that everyone involved will remember for a very long time.”
Local organizations were set up in the lobby of Jadwin to provide information to fans on breast cancer. T-shirts and rally towels were also available. The crowd of nearly 1,000 was also treated with free coffee, and pink cupcakes and cookies.
If you were unable to make it to the game, don't worry t-shirts are still available for purchase. To order, call (609) 258-5666 or e-mail sjurgens@princeton.edu
Princeton would like to thanks its sponsors: Princeton HealthCare System's Breast Health Center, the YWCA Princeton's Breast Cancer Resource Center, Princeton Against Cancer Together (PACT), UBS and Stonebridge at Montgomery senior living community.
