Tar Heels Blank Softball to Close North Carolina Trip

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina posted four runs each in the third and sixth innings on its way to an 11-0 run-rule victory over the Princeton softball team Sunday afternoon.
Princeton split its Carolina weekend at 2-2 and is now 3-3 on the season. North Carolina improved to 18-3.
Megan Weidrick, Kathryn Welch and Kristin Arguedas each had hits for the Tigers, while Michelle Tolfa went the full six innings in the circle.
North Carolina scored its first run in the second inning before pushing the lead to 5-0 after three. The Tar Heels added two more in the fifth before moving into run-rule territory with a four-run sixth for the 11-0 final. Princeton had four errors in the loss.
Two Tigers, Welch and Arguedas, were named to the all-tournament team.
The Tigers will have eight days away from competition before beginning its spring break games in California on March 17 at St. Mary's College in Moraga, Calif.
